I’m so sorry everyone if page updates have been late. I’ve been busy mostly this month dealing with holiday preparations, I also took a trip to Texas to support family and my whole schedule has kinda been thrown off because of all that’s going on. Luckily it’s all finished and I can get back to real life. So here we are with page 7 of chapter 25 up and ready for viewing. Page updates may be a little slow for the remainder of the year due to the holidays and heavy times at work as well as me needing a small cool down. However I will continue updating when I can and we should pick up a bit more at the beginning of 2022.

Jacob And waylons Sketches

Going way back to some pics that were never shared at the time. So these are the first sketches of Jacob and Waylons who debuted in the Western Arch. Waylons mostly remained the same to the final design, with the only exception being details to the coat. While I did do the drawing, it was mostly my co-writer who developed Waylons, he had a very specific idea of how he would look and even came up with his whole backstory.

Jacob comes with a backstory of his own. My initial idea with Jacob was to have him look like a polite little boy, as he was meant to be Waylon’s little helper. His initial design can be seen on the right of his sketches. However I totally crazy design I came up with was Jacob wearing a coat and boots that were far too big for him. The idea behind this design is that Jacob admires Waylons and seeks to become like him. As such he wears these overly large boots and coat in hopes to grow into them one day. So if you ever wondered as to why his clothes were too big, that’s why.

As I mentioned last week, I was away from my workspace last week and so there would be slight pause on new pages. Thankfully, that pause has come to an end. Page 6 of chapter 25 will be coming out tomorrow, so be on the lookout for an update. Meanwhile, here’s a little WIP preview of whats to come. Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!

Update Time!!!

Hello to all you time travel fans, and I just wanted to open with a thank you for following this blog, things have really picked up this year and I’m so grateful for all the support!

Now onto the point of this post. So for the last four days I’ve been away from home on a family matter, no it’s not bad actually it’s very good. My brother just graduated from training in the army, so I went out there to his ceremony. Page 5 of chapter 25 went up the day I left, and I was running around trying to finish that page fast enough and to the quality I wanted before departing.

I have another illustration that’s Christmas related, but I am unable to post that online as it is a Christmas present to someone, so maybe I’ll post it on Christmas Day, or just a photo of the finished piece. I did have a brainstorm for another Christmas picture on my trip so I think I’ll work on that. Also I’ll be getting back on regular page updates, so be on the lookout for that.

One final thing, publication is still coming we got just one more chapter to edit before sending it in, plus some extras. My co-writers just been a bit busy with all that’s going on this holiday season.

Lunch Time sketch Roundup

So I mentioned this on the official Kalwa facebook page, I started bringing my sketchbook to my day job, mainly for lunchtime. I have a tendency to eat my lunch super fast and then I have the remainder of an hour to sit around and do nothing. Since it’s pretty hard for me to use the sketchbook at home after a full day of working on the regular artwork, I decided to bring it and use the sit down time to work on some art. These sketches range from just plain practice (like the action scenes) to concept which is also practice for future chapters (such as the ponytail Kalwa) to some style experimentation (such as the realistic sketch below).

All these sketches get uploaded via photo shoot on the facebook page as they are finished. They will be uploaded here to this website in edited format once I get enough of them. The holidays are upon us and if you’re all like me, your probably feeling a bit overwhelmed, I’m trying to do some special stuff for the family and I tend to be a little obsessive about getting things done.
