Kalwa Chapter 21 Page 10

My internet has been giving me some major problems lately, and I got a little swamped yesterday after I left my mouse to charge. But we are back on with yet another page entry in chapter 23, we’re now officially up to page 10, which means we are nearly at the halfway point of this chapter. Now today, we introduce a new character who will be playing a major role in this arch and the entire story as a whole. As usual, click the thumbnail below to see the newest page.

Chapter 23 page 7

Sorry it’s a little late in the day, I kinda slept in today, had other work to do around the house and wanted to spend some extra time to work on quality. So anyway, we got a new page up for chapter 23 and I’m kinda on a sugar rush working on it. As this chapter has a lot of emphasis on motion, I’ve been practicing to get a lot of motion and intensity into various scenes. I’ve actually been using my Naruto books as reference for line work and other effects. That beings said, I’m really loving working on this chapter, I feel like I’m really working on an action styled comic and this is years of practice really working it’s magic as of now. As usual, click the link below to see the latest page.

Kaliesha Character Art

It’s another character art today, this is time it’s Kaliesha who originally debuted in chapter 12, introduced as the secret captain of the pirate hunters. She’s also a single mother who’s is highly protective of her children Amoy and Akoni. Kaliesha herself was actually based off an old boss I had who was a hardworker with a kid of her own. I’d watch her attend to both her job and her kid, and I had such great respect for her. When we were writing the pirate story arch, Kaliesha was the first character I came up with, though it was my co-writer who named her and all of her crewmates.

The flames were a last minute choice, I kinda developed them after I was playing around with the shadow and started getting a red hue. I thought the intense flames would help to emphasize her protective mother side and just how strong a character she is when it comes to protecting her kids.
