It’s officially the first day of summer, and as usual it’s time for the annual Green Raptor summer piece. It’s Kalwa’s turn this year (I think only one year I did Amber instead of Kalwa). Truth be told, where I live, summer is NOT really that great. It’s scorching hot to the point where going outside is painful. Though it does make great pool weather. Still I can’t really pass up the opportunity to draw my characters in hot swimsuits.
So I know it has been quiet around here lately. The reason is that I’ll be debuting the FIRST Kalwa books, and Amber, at Tuscan Comic Con this September and I’ve spent the last two months prepping stuff. Everything for the convention has been sent to the printers and I’m waiting for the final details on placement. Plus my day job has been a bit busy, especially with deliveries in the hot heat that Arizona has been having (if you lived here you’d know what I mean) has left me drained. So everything has kinda been on hold. We are now finally ready to resume work, and chapter 28 is being written. I’m working to have it written and roughed before the convention, I’ll give more details on that in the near future.
For now, here’s a new summer drawing of Kalwa doing some modeling. Hot as it is, I’ve still been trying to enjoy the summer vibes, hard as it is. This was originally a lunchtime sketch that I decided to color. Hope you enjoy it and have a good summer, what’s left of it anyway.
Originally a Lunchtime Sketch I posted on my facebook page, the original image was so cute I just had to color it. So here’s Kalwa in a training swimsuit for the sport of Keijo. Those unfamiliar with it, Keijo is a fictional sport featured in the anime series Hip Whip Girl Keijo!!!!
I’ve been watching the series on Crunchyroll streaming, it’s a scientific breakthrough of a show that combines a serious and intense sport like story with pure fan service. Seriously the entire series is basically learning combat with your rear end, and yet the show is still so intense. Plus it involves swimsuits and pool water, which I’m always a fan of. Makes me excited for summer to come again I can use the pool! Anyway, enjoy this lovely image of Kalwa ready to whip it on the field.
A lunchtime sketch made into a full on digital drawing. The Desert Vixens from the Western arc attempting to put on a swimsuit photoshoot, only everything is going completely wrong. Also in case this drawing doesn’t make it obvious, Cassidy is not at all bothered by concept of nudity. Little tide over as we wait for chapter 27, which I remind everyone starts on Monday.
There’s been a bit of build up to this for a little while on our social media platforms and now it’s finally here. We now have an official swimsuit harem featuring all the girls from the past twenty four chapters, or at least the young ones. Miki’s in there as well just looking cute as we did need a ninth girl. So as a celebration for all these years of progress in the story, enjoy this little bit of fanservice.
Reposting some artwork done in 2021. I feel like this past year I really fell in love with what I was doing and there were a lot of inspiration through streaming and web videos. I also had a lot time to play and experiment with techniques to up the quality. Not to mention bringing my sketchbook to work to practice gestures and more.
So here’s a reflection on some of the art from last year!

So June 20th is the first official day of summer… which is why we are uploading this on the 21st…
Anyway to kick off this summer, here’s a tribute of all the Kalwa summer pieces. Not all of these were done as the annual summer picture but still it should lighten some spirits as the world gets back to normal this summer.
The script for chapter 24 is finished, I just sent it to my co-writer yesterday for review, so I’m just waiting for it to come back before officially rolling. But in the meantime, I’m rolling out the annual summertime piece, I know we’re a little off from the first official day of summer, but I just wanted to draw it. So here’s this year’s illustration. I think I’ll try do a few more as the summer goes on, moving a bit away from the beach theme.
