We are closing in on the end of May, which means another Mer-May is coming to a close, Those who follow my Green Raptor site or other locations on the internet know that I’m a major mermaid artist and tend to do some major mermaid work on this month. So here’s the last piece this month which features Kalwa, Izuha and Suzume posing as mermaids on a rock for anyone willing to wander by. Don’t crash if you encounter them.

I got real busy Sunday night with another project and completely forgot to upload the Monday page. Didn’t even realize it until the afternoon of which I was at my day job. So I decided this week, we will just combine both pages into a DOUBLE page update for Wednesday. So enjoy a double helping of pages by clicking that thumbnail right below!!!!

Time now for more of an update on chapter 27, and I hope you enjoy it. So I’ve spent the last few days heavily roughing up chapter 27, the goal of which was to have it done before Christmas so I could enjoy the Holiday. As I’ve mentioned before this is kinda a new technique which will hopefully lead to a much better project.
For past chapters, the work process has been simple, write the script and go through page by page and make the finished pages as I go through. The problem is all the work that goes into making a page is truly draining. As it requires laying out panels, coming up with the pictures and setting up text to make it all flow. This is all BEOFRE you get to doing the details and finalizing the art. Major issues with this technique is that everything is done at once which leaves both tired and more incapable of double checking my work to insure it’s working as sequential storytelling, as well as keeping continuity between pages such as minor details and location.
By roughing the whole chapter up like this, about half the work has already been done and now I can focus my efforts on making quality art as well as being able to divide my time between Kalwa and other projects (like an new Amber the Mermaid story). So hopefully this post was informal to all the artists, aspiring mangaka or even just entertaining for the general audience. Also I’m still waiting to get the script back from my editor, so what you see here might not be the final product, most definitely we might have new dialogue.
Hope everyone has a happy and enjoyable holidays and be sure to tune it this years Kalwa Christmas pinup!

It’s officially launch day for chapter 26!!! I’m sorry to everyone for the long wait, it’s been a bit difficult to get things going as both me and my co-writer have both moved into new homes and of course we live on opposite sides of the continent, so it’s been a bit hard to communicate amongst everything going on. This will be a pretty unique chapter as it actually does not focus so much on Kalwa herself other than the intro, rather it is more about her brother Zack, whom we have not seen in a while. The first two pages are up right now for reading, a third page will be added on Wednesday, click the thumbnail to see what we got for you all!!!
Suzume finally gets her own character art, pretty much the last major character (outside of antagonists) from the Japanese arch. Similar to Izuha, Suzume was designed to be a minor background character just to fill the student scenes, her face was drawn on the pages of other background characters in the sketchbook. But I decided to give her a little bit of a larger role as one of Kalwa’s friends. Originally she was supposed to be short tempered, but I felt this was a little cliche and done before in the story, so she’s instead a little arrogant and passionate, but still loyal to her friends.
A scrapped joke in chapter 24 is during the hot spring scene, Suzume was supposed to be eating some fish on sticks and coined the term fish-sticks, which Izuha rejected as a name. But this got scrapped for timing.
