Yukata Kalwa
Long time since doing a colored image. So recently I’ve been trying to convert several of my lunchtime sketches into full on illustrations. So here’s one such example, with Kalwa in a Yukata, which I kinda got the idea from after watching the festival scene from the movie Your Name. I’m not really the best at coming up with patterns on the spot, but I kinda came up with the idea of having a glow like effect, in fact the Kanji in the corner is supposed to mean Shine!
Sunday Sketch: Sato Dojo
Sunday Sketch once again, this time it’s a location sketch. So this is a sketch area map of the Sato Dojo, of course the main setting for the Japanese arch. I always try to map out locations, though kinda have a bad habit of not double checking sketches when I start drawing them in the comic.
There was supposed to be a lot more plant life around the dojo, including Cherry Blossoms at the training ring. But I kinda forgot to draw them in there, or maybe I just thought it would be easier not to. I actually looked back on these for the pages that will be uploaded this week and forgot about the location of the lower servant housing.
Also looking back on it, I cant believe I put the servant hot spring so far away from the housing area. This would mean a long walk from the hot spring to the housing, especially if a servant wanted to walk with only a towel. I really got to better use these sketches in the future for new locations.

NEVERMIND!!! Despite my last post, I reliezed that the activity I was about to perform would really just inconvenience recent plans for today and just cause frustrations. We are officially there everyone, we are done now with chapter 23 of Kalwa and the Japanese arch is now in full swing. It’s time now for a brief break as the next chapter gets prepped. But in the meantime, get ready for some behind the scenes work in the coming days. A little update on a promotional image that I’ve been working on these past few weeks. I’ll be posting the finished result as an end cap to chapter 23 when it’s done, as an official kick off to the Japan arch. we are now officially four pages away from finishing the first chapter. Things have been a little different as of late, I just started a new full time job and have kinda been adjusting to the new sleep pattern and workday. In addition to this I’ve started a seven work course on wordpress (mainly to better my skills at the websites like this).
So needless to say my time is mostly occupied as of late. However with this new job and the chance to move on with life, I’m feeling invigorated and motivated to keep moving forward. One of which is my goal to get both Kalwa and all of Green Raptor out into the world with more interactivity and experience. Right now the world is still on lockdown with the virus, but things are getting better and there is nowhere to go but up. So once again, here’s a little update and look for the finished product at the end of chapter 23.
