As is an annual tradition, we always upload a summer themed pinup here on the first day of summer. This year is a bit different, Kalwa’s not just showing off her swimsuit, but she’s accompanied by Zack and Reko. Here’s to another summer and may this year be filled with joy and adventure!
CHapter 26 BEGINS
It’s officially launch day for chapter 26!!! I’m sorry to everyone for the long wait, it’s been a bit difficult to get things going as both me and my co-writer have both moved into new homes and of course we live on opposite sides of the continent, so it’s been a bit hard to communicate amongst everything going on. This will be a pretty unique chapter as it actually does not focus so much on Kalwa herself other than the intro, rather it is more about her brother Zack, whom we have not seen in a while. The first two pages are up right now for reading, a third page will be added on Wednesday, click the thumbnail to see what we got for you all!!!
Chapter 26 Starts next week!
Thank you all for your patience. It’s been a real challenge getting this chapter rolling, I just moved into a new apartment and now Ryan’s moving into one as well, with both our lives changing it’s been so hard to get the ball rolling. But we are finally ready to launch chapter 26, the first few pages are nearly done and ready to go, I just need to do some toning. Uploads should start on Monday if all goes according to plan, thanks all for your patience and here’s some preview shots of what’s to come.
Realistic Kalwa
I’ve been trying to draw Kalwa in a more realistic art style for quite a while now. Years ago I tried, but wasn’t happy with the results. Since starting a new job last year, I’ve spent my lunch break drawing other people’s characters and practicing their art styles in an attempt to enhance my own skills and develop other illustration skills. Finally months of practice have accumulated in finally creating this. Her hair is still a challenge to draw in this style, her three hedges are a trademark of hers and I’m not completely sure how to translate them to this style, the style here was actually inspired by a fanart crossover I received some time ago.
Kalwa and Senku
So this is a belated tribute/parody to the end of the Dr. Stone manga. After reading the final chapter and what Senku’s last creation would be, I just had to do a crossover with Kalwa. This image does kinda contain spoilers for the final Dr. Stone chapter, so if you haven’t read it I suggest you do so before proceeding.
I would’ve had this done sooner, but the manga ended on my moving day and then I had to set up the house which kept me busy for nearly two weeks.
Update
Hello fellow viewers long time no post. I wanted to post an let everyone know what’s going on right now. So on Sunday I officially moved into my first apartment and this whole week I’ve been so busy setting up and getting settled. I actually didn’t even get my computer set up until Wednesday so I couldn’t even post. I meant to post something before taking down the computer, but everything just moved so fast and I couldn’t do it.
So as a general note, all my free time this week has been spent setting up because I really can’t stand the sight of a messy house. But progress is going great and things are moving smoothly. As for what’s coming up, it’s mostly just drawings andI’ll really get rolling once my house is fully set up. Here’s a small little progress of what’s coming up right now. Chapter 25 COMPLETE AND UPDATES!
Hello everyone and happy last Monday of February, and today I’m NOT going to waste your time. Both pages for chapter 25 are complete and I don’t want to drag this out, so today I’m posting a DOUBLE page update and giving you the final two pages of Chapter 25 all at once today.
Now it’s time for some major updates. I’m MOVING, yes moving… to a new place. I’m finally getting my own apartment after all these years and this is a major change for me.
Without going into full details the years have really changed. When this comic had just started in 2014 I was just out of college, and working a part time job. Then I moved to a new state and got another part time job. Shortly after that, things went south. Getting steady pay was hard, we were still struggling to get this project up in the air, and then the pandemic. I got real depressed, and fell on real hard times, working on this comic series was the only thing I really enjoyed in life and I was struggling with the realities of being a struggling artist. Then last year I finally got a full time job, and over the course of time kinda recovered from the depressing time of my life. I’ve been working to improve my craft and have found pure joy in what what I do, better than I ever had before.
Family relations have gotten better and I’m SO MUCH happier than I was years ago, and now I’m finally getting out into the world ready to embark on my own journey and life.
So that being said, now I really WANT to do some serious work and more with Kalwa and the rest of Green Raptor Studios in my journey of life. We are going to publish the first volume, we are looking at summer, this time for real. I just need to update the fifth chapter, put some extras together and get some more goodies in there. All of that has been on my plans, but first I’ve had to pack up and get ready for the move. My primary concern was to finish chapter 25 before the move so I don’t leave anything hanging before I have to unload and move into the new house.
I’m also planning to get back on webtoons. The current Kalwa comic I don’t think will work well on Webtoons, but I have a gag comic called Kid Kalwa planned to go. More on that later. For the next few weeks, I’ll mostly be busy setting up the new house. However I will still be putting out artwork along with sketches and some behind the scenes work. I’ll do my best to keep everyone updated on when you can expect the next chapter and what’s coming out. So that’s what I just wanted to get out as well as thank everyone who follows this site and gives support. It all goes a long way and really shows me and my co-writer that our work is appreciated. My feeling is much like Kalwa’s smiling face down below.
