Update for the Week

Just posting an update on what’s been going on. There won’t be a page update this week unfortunately. I’ve got pages in the work as seen from previews below, but I’ve been attending to other things around the house that I’ve been putting off such as reorganizing items and throwing things out. This on top of work has left me feeling drained and tired and has made it hard to sit down and draw. Hopefully I’ll feel better next week and get more out. Meanwhile as I mentioned, here’s a preview of whats coming.

Summer 2022

As is an annual tradition, we always upload a summer themed pinup here on the first day of summer. This year is a bit different, Kalwa’s not just showing off her swimsuit, but she’s accompanied by Zack and Reko. Here’s to another summer and may this year be filled with joy and adventure!

Chapter 26 Cover

Unveiling the cover to chapter 26, one that might be a little unique. I finally decided to go with the blocking of the logo. This is because this chapter actually won’t feature much of Kalwa herself save for the opening. Rather this chapter focuses more on the trio you see here, namely on Zack who is seen the back.

Chapter 26 will start very soon, Ryan is finishing up the script and soon it will be back to me pretty soon. I’ll give you all an update once the actual chapter starts. Meanwhile enjoy the cover!

Realistic Kalwa

I’ve been trying to draw Kalwa in a more realistic art style for quite a while now. Years ago I tried, but wasn’t happy with the results. Since starting a new job last year, I’ve spent my lunch break drawing other people’s characters and practicing their art styles in an attempt to enhance my own skills and develop other illustration skills. Finally months of practice have accumulated in finally creating this. Her hair is still a challenge to draw in this style, her three hedges are a trademark of hers and I’m not completely sure how to translate them to this style, the style here was actually inspired by a fanart crossover I received some time ago.

Suzume Character Art

Suzume finally gets her own character art, pretty much the last major character (outside of antagonists) from the Japanese arch. Similar to Izuha, Suzume was designed to be a minor background character just to fill the student scenes, her face was drawn on the pages of other background characters in the sketchbook. But I decided to give her a little bit of a larger role as one of Kalwa’s friends. Originally she was supposed to be short tempered, but I felt this was a little cliche and done before in the story, so she’s instead a little arrogant and passionate, but still loyal to her friends.

A scrapped joke in chapter 24 is during the hot spring scene, Suzume was supposed to be eating some fish on sticks and coined the term fish-sticks, which Izuha rejected as a name. But this got scrapped for timing.
