Update and Pencils

Giving yet another update on progress for chapter 24, and I wanted to start with an apology and and statement that… this has been a real horrible week. First of all, my co-writer has been mauled down with work, but he keeps giving updates that he is working on the script and will have it soon. Meanwhile I’ve been attempting to draw up some pages as a way to get a leg up, but it hasn’t been easy.

So to put things into perspective, I think I already mentioned that I went out Sunday with friends and was only able to get one page drawn that day, I think that was this past Sunday. Well after having a wonderful and happy Sunday, my thirteen year old dog got a virus. It’s a virus that’s causing him to walk in circles and making him a bit restless, we just got the diagnosis on Tuesday. So I’ve been trying to spend some time comforting him and letting him know I love him to help him get through this tough time. Related to that, I’ve felt pretty down on what he’s going through and really haven’t felt like drawing or working much, just taking it easy.

Fortunately, my dog’s making a fast recovery. He’s only been on the medication for a few days and he’s showing great progress. So I’m working my way back after a long break from drawing. Here’s some progress with two pages penciled up. One was previously shown, but now you can get a look at page 2.

It’s beginning everyone, I went out yesterday with some friends abs kinda spent the day out. But I did do at least three mock up pages for the next chapter, and page one has been fully pencilled. Here’s a shot of what we got going and what to expect.

So I’m giving everyone an update on what we got going! On chapter 24, my co-writer has the script and should hopefully have it back to me later today. I’ll start working on pages this Sunday and you should hopefully see some pages coming up next week. I know it’s been a little I lost contact with my co-writer following a phone change situation, and I didn’t know what to post for a while so that’s why it’s been quiet.

In addition I’m working on publication of this’d first five chapters. Drawings are finished I just need to put it in the fixed text which is a real tedious task that I keep losing interest in doing, so I’m trying find a better way of working on that. But it’s coming, it’s coming soon. So that’s the basics on what’s going on, and I just wanted to inform everyone. Thanks for sticking by.

Kalwa Summer Tribute

So June 20th is the first official day of summer… which is why we are uploading this on the 21st…

Anyway to kick off this summer, here’s a tribute of all the Kalwa summer pieces. Not all of these were done as the annual summer picture but still it should lighten some spirits as the world gets back to normal this summer.

Reizo Sketches

So now comes Reizo, the latest villain to debut in Kalwa, even though he was only seen briefly at the end of the last chapter. Reizo was actually a character who I had been planning for as he was a character from my original version of Kalwa drawn back in high school. However the character here is racially different from the version I had drawn then, most notably the hair. I really wanted Reizo to appear as an overly serious and downright scary person, so I put a lot of emphasis on his eyes, styling them to look slim and snake like. As with other members of his group, he is covered in rags and battle scars which he wears as a symbol of pride. The little backstory about his facial scar which was mentioned at the beginning of chapter 24 was something I came up with on the spot while writing the script as a way to add more character development.

The script for chapter 24 is finished, I just sent it to my co-writer yesterday for review, so I’m just waiting for it to come back before officially rolling. But in the meantime, I’m rolling out the annual summertime piece, I know we’re a little off from the first official day of summer, but I just wanted to draw it. So here’s this year’s illustration. I think I’ll try do a few more as the summer goes on, moving a bit away from the beach theme.

I spent the whole day yesterday writing the script to chapter 24 and just crashed and burned at the end of the day. So right now I really got nothing to post for you al to enjoy. So to fill the void, I’m doing a repost of character artwork for characters other than Kalwa, including some of the really older ones from a couple years ago such as Bridgette and Cassidy. All of these are available to view in the art gallery as well, anyway I hope this entertains everyone as I work to get some more stuff up. I’ll be reviewing chapter 24 one more time tomorrow before sending it over to my co-writer.

Original Chapter 8 Cover

Dug this up on the Facebook page today and kinda forgot it was there. So this is the ORIGINAL cover to chapter 8 done nearly 3 years ago, it was essentially completed, but I felt the drawing just looked so boring, it was also a bit difficult getting the two bodies to intermix. So I ultimately scrapped this cover and replaced it with the one you can currently find on the site. Anyway, thought I’d share it today.
