Kalwa and Zack Outfit Update

New image of what’s to come up. So following the ending of the Japanese arch, Kalwa and Zack will be getting a bit of a wardrobe change. This decision was made following a little review from comic legend Jim Shooter at Tuscan Comic Con last year, he noted that he had a little trouble telling the difference between the characters. Even though he was referring to scenes from the Japanese arch, it made me look at my character designs and noted the similar clothing which ultimately gets a little muted in black and white. Kalwa’s leggings were inspired by Luz from the Owl House, I really liked her legging design and wanted them on a character.

Any way this will all kick off following the conclusion of the Japanese arch in the next chapter, so chapter 29.

Book Update

Just a little update on what’s going on lately with publication. So after chapter 27 finished up, things got a little off track with a little vacation time to my states comic con, plus doing some stuff on the Green Raptor side. Now in other news I’m set to make my convention debut at Tuscan Comic Coni this September and I’m bringing both Kalwa and Amber along. Both characters will have their first volumes in hard copy form.

Kalwa Vol 1 will consist of the first four chapters and some exclusive art and handouts for anyone attending the con. I’ll be looking to sell books on the Etsy shop and even some e-books upon getting back. For now here’s some screenshots of the indesign files as the book is being laid out.

As for chapter 28, it’s in the writing, I’ve just fallen a bit behind. The con is gonna be top priority having to get everything ready and printed before then, but I’ll work on it as best I can. Hopefully I can get it finished and sent to my co-writer and he can look it over while I’m in Tuscan.

Summer 2023

Little bit late on this but here’s our annual summer illustration. This year Kalwa’s joined by Amber the Mermaid, the other Green Raptor comic star. Hope you’re all enjoying the first bits of summer this year.

Bridgette

For the first time since this site went up, we’re actually doing something for Pride Month with a new illustration centered around Kalwa (and Green Raptor’s) first LGBT character Bridgette, who made her debut in the Western Arch starting in chapter 4. Bridgette wasn’t initially written as gay, but as her backstory with Rachel started getting written it just felt right, it also felt kinda unique at the time the story was written as the LGBT community was starting to see recognition within fiction long before the Owl House came out. There will be a second western arch later in the story where her feelings and history with Rachel will play a bit more of a role in the plot. Happy Pride Month everyone.

Sketchbook posts

Posting a few drawings from the sketchbook that I did at lunch. Some of these are actually general thumbs and designs for upcoming drawings so be on the lookout for them.

Weapon Trio

Just another pinup of Kalwa with her dojo buddies Izuha and Suzume showing off their weapon skills. I just love drawing these three student buddies.

Deep Sea Diving

Had this finished for a while but haven’t uploaded till now. So this is kinda an illustration/ teaser for an upcoming arch. Following the conclusion of the Japanese arch, which will be the next chapter, we’ll be embarking a new dangerous adventure where they attempt to find an ancient relic for their new benefactors. Problem is it’s located at the bottom of the ocean in the prehistoric times, and they’ll be coming face to face with a Megalodon Shark. More updates coming as we get closer to the arch.

Mermaid Trio

We are closing in on the end of May, which means another Mer-May is coming to a close, Those who follow my Green Raptor site or other locations on the internet know that I’m a major mermaid artist and tend to do some major mermaid work on this month. So here’s the last piece this month which features Kalwa, Izuha and Suzume posing as mermaids on a rock for anyone willing to wander by. Don’t crash if you encounter them.

Kalwa and CHizuru

A little crossover I’ve put off for a long time of Kalwa and Chizuru from Rent-A-Girlfriend. Mostly this was play on Kalwa’s attitude to pretty dresses. While I have drawn Kalwa in dresses before for Christmas, New Year and a few more, these are mostly for fan service purposes only. Within canon of the story Kalwa hates dresses and dislikes wearing any cute ones, hence why she doesn’t wear them in the comic.
